Day 1: Buenos Aires (-/-/D)
Arrival at Buenos Aires International airport (EZE), welcome by local guide and transfer to your hotel. Dinner at Lola restaurant www.lolarestaurant.com Lola's is the favored meeting place of the Buenos Aires jet-set; its terrace is the place to be seen in Buenos Aires! The restaurant offers superb international cuisine and a refined ambiance. (Dinner includes entrée / main course / dessert & drink - ½ bottle of wine per person and unlimited soft drinks). Day 2: Buenos Aires (B/L/-)
Full Day City Tour of Buenos Aires (7 hours) During the tour we will visit Avenida de Mayo and Plaza De Mayo, which is surrounded by the Casa Rosada (Government House), the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo (the first City Hall, built during Spanish rule). At the other end of Avenida de Mayo you will find the Congress building. Passing Colon Theatre, one of the world's best known opera houses and the cultural pride of the "porteños" (as the inhabitants of Buenos Aires are commonly called), we continue to Palermo with its beautiful parks, the City Zoo, Botanical Garden, Argentine Horse Track and National Polo Fields. Palermo is also famed for its artificial lakes. Afterwards we will visit Recoleta, one of the city's most glamorous spots, even though it once hosted a slaughterhouse! Here you'll find the Municipal Cultural Center, elegant boutiques and excellent restaurants. We will continue onto the cemetery where you will find the grave of Eva Duarte who became famous as Eva Perón (Evita) as well as politicians, explorers, priests, leaders, writers and poets. The cemetery is considered to be one of the most impressive monuments of Argentina's past. Next stop is La Boca, a most colorful area where you will see painters offering their Tango pictures. Driving to the south of the city we continue to San Telmo, the best kept historical neighborhood and oldest district of Buenos Aires. Here we have time to stroll around Plaza Dorrego, where you can find many antique shops. Wine tasting & lunch at El Querandi This big house has been established in the city's historical district since 1867. Founded as a Bar in 1920 and restored in 1992, it is considered to be "a Living Testimony of Buenos Aires' Memory" by the Buenos Aires City Museum, and "Notable Bar" by the National Tourist Secretary. Enjoy an exclusive wine tasting at La Cave - El Querandi. Approx. duration 1:00 hour OPTIONAL Dinner & Tango show The Tango developed at the end of the last century from a mixture of various dances which were popular in the poorer quarters. At first it was danced by pairs of men to the music of the flute, the violin and the guitar, the first of which was subsequently replaced by the "bandoneón" (a type of accordion), which gave it its distinctive sound. Spending a night visiting one of the many Tango Shows the city offers is a MUST when you are visiting Buenos Aires. Esquina Carlos Gardel This restaurant (named after a famous local folk singer) offers a superb cuisine in an exquisitely decorated Art Nouveau style building. (Dinner includes entrée / main course / dessert & drinks). After tango show return back to the hotel. Overnight in Buenos Aires.
Day 3: Buenos Aires (B/L/-)
Full Day Estancia El Ombu de Areco with empanadas cooking class (110 km, 8 hours) El Ombu de Areco is located in San Antonio de Areco, the cradle of the "gauchesca" tradition. This traditional 300-hectare estancia is dedicated to agriculture and animal husbandry and the magnificent "casco", built by General Ricchieri in 1880, welcomes its visitors.The Late-Colonial style mansion, built in 1880 by Lieutenant-general Pablo Riccheri, offers visitors a magnificent setting for an unforgettable stay. Full Day Visit includes guided horse rides, an outing in a horse drawn carriage or strolls along the meandering Areco river, with the guarantee of a delicious asado (BBQ) served with fine Argentine wines. You can also enjoy a cooking class (typical empanadas - meat pies) today as well.
Day 4: Buenos Aires / Salta (B/-/-)
Transfer to Buenos Aires Airport to board your flight to Salta Flight Buenos Aires / Salta Arrival at Salta airport, where you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Salta Situated 1600 km from Buenos Aires in a very fertile valley, Salta is a lovely tourist and handicraft destination and the best starting place for tours of the Northwest. Salta got its name from the Aymara word sagta meaning "very beautiful". Being Capital of its province, it is a handsome city founded in 1582 with fine colonial buildings. Overnight in Salta
Day 5: Salta (B/-/D)
Morning Gastronomic Tour Today, lovers of fine cuisine will have a day to enjoy the regional cuisine of the Northwest. In the morning you will visit San Miguel Market, which is overflowing with local products, spices and other oddities! We will seek out the best ingredients before returning to the kitchen where customs and stories will be shared as a local chef prepares a regional dish for you to try. Includes: dishes tasting (snack only, not full lunch) Afternoon Half Day City Tour Salta During this tour you will see the Cathedral, the 9 de Julio Square, the Archbishop's Palace and the Cabildo as well as other main buildings, as they are only open late in the afternoon. We will also go by bus to San Bernardo Hill. After this visit we will continue to San Lorenzo, a small but beautiful village about 10 km away from Salta. Last stop of the city tour is the Art and Crafts Market of Salta. Folklore Night Tonight enjoy dinner and folklore show in a traditional Peña. Salta is the birthplace of folklore and singers and tonight you can enjoy local dishes and wines with good songs & regional dances. (Dinner with soft drink included). Overnight in Salta
Day 6: Salta – Cafayate (B/L/-)
Transfer from Salta to Cafayate Cafayate is the most important city in the Calchaquí Valleys and is famous for its wine production. Cafayate, "land of sun and good wine," possesses an excellent microclimate which governs an extraordinary, colourful landscape full of unusual shapes. Its agreeable geographic location makes it accessible for visits year-round. Cafayate boasts some excellent local wines, including Torrontés. Discover this indigenous grape variety which produces beautiful aromatic and expressive white wines. Lunch is included today at Finca las Nubes. A delicious meal will be served on their terrace overlooking the vineyard. This afternoon we will visit the charming Mounier Cellar, a tiny family owned winery tucked away at dizzying heights of 1800 metres, where you will be treated to a tasting of their lovingly hand-crafted wines. Day 7: Cafayate – Salta – Mendoza (B/-/-)
Arrival at Salta airport and board the flight to Mendoza. Flight Salta / Mendoza (via Buenos Aires) Arrival at Mendoza airport, transfer to the hotel & check in. Overnight in Mendoza
Day 8: Mendoza (B/L/-)
Full Day Wine Experience (about 7 hours). Seventy percent of the vineyards in Argentina are found in Mendoza, making this the largest wine region of South America. Here the Malbec grape reigns producing full-bodied reds with a surprising range of expressions. In the morning you will depart to Mendoza's agricultural oasis and visit Catena and Mendel wineries. A wine tasting at both bodegas will introduce you to some of the top wines of the region as well as demonstrate the diversity. At Catena, their influence on Argentina's wine industry cannot be underestimated. They have been at the forefront of quality and their exploration of planting at different altitudes has pushed Mendoza's wines to new heights - literally! Afterwards, enjoy Lunch at a Melipal Winery. A seasonal meal on the delightful veranda and the warm welcome will leave you very contented. This afternoon we continue to Mendel. Co-owned by celebrated winemaker Roberto de la Mota, Mendel is boutique wineries focusing on 80-year-old Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The wines display a rare elegance and sophistication but it is the charisma and enthusiasm of Mendel team that will really capture your heart. Overnight in Mendoza
Day 9: Mendoza (B/L/-)
Wineries Tour with cooking class Today we will visit one of the most important wineries in Mendoza. Bodega Zuccardi is a large family property with an incredible commitment to sustainability. They produce as wide range of wines including two of the world's most successful Argentine brands. Be prepared to become part of the family! We will enjoy a cooking class at Bodega Zuccardi, including a welcome drink, technical tour and wine tasting. The Chef will then teach you to cook traditional recipes and after that you will have the chance to taste the food you have prepared! Overnight in Mendoza
Day 10: Mendoza - Uco Valley (B/L/-)
Transfer to Uco Valley. Visit 3 Wineries. Today you will visit the famed Uco Valley, a newer sub-region that has already gained a reputation for being one of Mendoza's best. Closer to the Andes with overall higher elevations, the intensity of the landscape is reflected in the wine. We will do some wine tastings at Masi and Salentein wineries. The Masi property is owned by the renowned Italian company of the same name and its wines are true to its origins. Expect unique wines that bring together Italian grape varieties with Argentina's treasures Malbec and Torrontés. Enjoy lunch at Masi. Finally, the architecturally stunning facility and gorgeous property at Salentein will captivate you. Linger over the wines while you take in their remarkable art collection. An overnight stay here is a real treat. When you wake up in the morning to the stunning backdrop of the Andes, you'll think you've died and gone paradise. Overnight in Uco Valley
Day 11: Uco Valley - Mendoza Airport (B/-/-)
Transfer to Mendoza. City Tour Mendoza This tour includes a visit to the oldest part of the city where you will find Pedro del Castillo Square, the sensual Alameda of General San Martin, the Museum of "Area Fundacional", the Ruins of San Francisco Church (the last remains of 'old' Mendoza left after the terrible earthquake that took place in 1861) and the municipal Aquarium. We will then proceed to the new city which contains several famous squares (like Plaza Independencia), downtown Mendoza, the Civic Center and the old residential area. We will continue to General San Martin Park with its lake and rose garden and the Hill of Glory, a popular spot for a panoramic view. Transfer to airport where the tour ends.
