DAY 1 LIMA
Upon arrival in Lima, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel, where you will spend the night.
DAY 2 LIMA
After breakfast, you will be guided through the ritzy district of Miraflores, with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. You will then visit Casa Luna, whose the owners will welcome you into their home and show you their unique collection of Nativity scenes. You will then have the chance to tour Lima and really get a feel for its 2,000 year-old history. Highlights include the historical centre, the administrative centre for Spain's empire in the New World, and the Larco Museum, a colonial mansion housing Peru's finest collection of pre-Columbian art. Enjoy lunch at La Rosa Nautica, a legendary seafood restaurant located in Pier 4 of the Lima Beach Circuit, before departing on an afternoon tour of the city. Overnight in Lima.
DAY 3 LIMA-CUZCO-SACRED VALLEY (Pachamama Ceremony)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to the airport, as our staff provides assistance in getting you to your departing flight. Upon your arrival in Cuzco, you will be transferred to your hotel in the Urubamba Valley, the famous “Sacred Valley of the Incas.” You will visit a traditional market in Pisac, where you will have the opportunity to shop for traditional handicrafts made by indigenous artisans. Take part in a Pachamama Ceremony, in worship to Mother earth, where a traditional “Pako” an Andean Shaman will prepare your offerings and present them to the Pachamama. Mysticism and culture will be the highlights of this one in a lifetime experience.* You will also visit Pisac's Inca astronomic observatory and walk around the cultivation terraces, renowned for their irrigation system. Enjoy lunch at a pleasant hostelry in the countryside before continuing to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. The site was built just as the Spaniards arrived and evidence of how it was constructed is still visible. After getting a feel for the site’s monumental past, stroll through the charming and quaint streets of today's town. Overnight in the Sacred Valley. * Passengers will be met at their hotel by their guides who will direct them to their private vehicle that will take them to “Pulpituchayoc”, an Andean Ceremonial altar, located about 30 minutes by car from their hotel. Upon arrival, passengers will be guided in a 20 minutes hike to the Altar and will place themselves in the terraces below the altar. There they will view the “Pako” the Andean Shaman, who will direct the ceremony. Every one of the participants will be provided with three coca leafs which represent the Andean trilogy, part of the Andean Cosmo-vision of life. The ceremony will take about 40 minutes, and every participant will be asked for a wish to Mother Earth and will blow air to the coca leafs and then one of their guides will collect them and present them to the Altar, where the Pako will ask Mother Earth to make real every wish. After the ceremony, passengers will hike back to their vehicles and will be transferred back to their hotel.
DAY 4 SACRED VALLEY (Ceramic & Textile Workshop)
Ceramics and textile work shop: be part of this in depth cultural experience and learn about the traditional weaving and ceramic techniques while you help to preserve them After picking passengers from their hotel, we will drive along a paved road for about 30 minutes to get to the town of Chinchero. This place is known for its textile work and communal organization. Here we will meet the women responsible for the textile activities, those dedicated to preserve and use ancient Inca´s weaving and knitting techniques. We will walk among artisans working on handcrafts and pottery using old pre-Columbian styles and learn more about weaving techniques as well as the procedure to obtain natural colours. At the end of the visit we will have time to do some shopping (1 ½ hours). After this, we will drive 30 minutes towards the center of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the town of Urubamba, where we will have the chance to meet a ceramist family, where we will have the opportunity to experiment with ceramics, following their teachings and ancient Inca’s techniques. An unforgettable experience in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After having a delicious buffet lunch in a nice local restaurant, we will drive for an hour up to the village of Willoq (12,050 ft.), where the most skilled weavers of the Sacred Valley manufacture unique, high-quality textiles. Then we will return back to our hotel in Sacred Valley
DAY 5 SACRED VALLEY-MACHU PICCHU-AGUAS CALIENTES
You will be transferred from the hotel to Ollantaytambo's train station, for the ride to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival at the small town of Aguas Calientes, you'll take a 25-minute coach ride to “The Lost City of the Incas", discovered by American explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911. You'll have a guided tour of the world-famous citadel, visiting all of its important sights, including the royal palace and the sacred sun dial. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.
DAY 6 AGUAS CALIENTES/CUZCO
For a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, suggest that you wake up early to see the sun rising over Machi Picchu. Hiking enthusiasts will also want to climb the peak of Huayna Picchu, overlooking the ruins. In the afternoon, you'll return to Ollantaytambo, and from there, we will transfer you to Cuzco. Overnight in Cuzco.
DAY 7 CUZCO
Following breakfast, you will be guided through the beguiling city of Cuzco. Sights include the Plaza de Armas, which was the symbolic centre of the Inca empire, and today serves as the city's central square; the Cathedral, which houses an original cross carried by the Spanish conquistadors; and Koricancha, the famed temple of the Sun God. One highlight is the Pre-Columbian Art Museum, housed in an old colonial mansion. Its exhibits have been carefully selected for their artistic value. Ceramics, gold, silver, shell and wood artefacts all form part of this collection. You will also visit nearby ruins: the “Red Fort” of Puca Pucará, a complex of towers, terraces, stairways, niche-filled halls and access-ways; and the famed Sacsayhuaman, an example of perfect Inca stonework spread across massive walls and three platforms. After the visit to the art museum, you’ll enjoy a gourmet dinner at the museum’s restaurant, where you can sample Cuzco's famed Novo Andino cuisine. Overnight in Cuzco.
DAY 8 CUZCO/LIMA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima (not included in the cost of the package). Upon your arrival back in Lima, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Overnight in Lima
DAY 9 LIMA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
