DAY 1 SANTIAGO
Upon arrival at Santiago Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Santiago
DAY 2 SANTIAGO
Enjoy a half day sightseeing tour of Santiago de Chile, a city of contrasts with the remains of its colonial past to the ultramodern, high-rise buildings of the financial center, Chile’s capital city will surprise you. There is a predominantly European influence in the city’s culture and more than 5 million people now live here. Your city tour starts by passing the San Francisco Church built between 1572 and 1618 then heading west towards the area of the Club Hípico, one of the most beautiful horseracing tracks in South America. The tour will continue to the Concha y Toro area, before arriving at the Plaza de Armas. Here the Cathedral, the Main Post Office Building and the National History Museum can be seen as well as La Moneda Palace (the seat of Government). Afterwards the tour will continue to Cerro San Cristóbal (San Cristóbal Hill), from where one can appreciate the scenic view of Santiago’s downtown. Then drive outside of the city on a wine-tasting excursion including a gourmet lunch and winery tour. Overnight in Santiago (B, L)
DAY 3 SANTIAGO – PUERTO MONTT – PUERTO VARAS
After breakfast, fly from Santiago to the Patagonian port city of Puerto Montt, founded by German immigrants in 1853. Travel through the rolling countryside of scenic Patagonia, viewing lovely lakes and mountains, to Puerto Varas, the lakeside "city of roses," where the influence of German settlers is still seen in both the architecture and beautiful gardens. Explore the interesting sights of this charming city on your own. Overnight in Puerto Varas (B, L)
DAY 4 PUERTO VARAS – PEULLA
Today continue on to Petrohue, bordering Llanquihue Lake. En-route, enjoy the imposing sights of Osorno and Calbuco Volcanoes. Continue on to Ensenada and Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, to visit the enchanting Laguna Verde, Spanish for green lagoon, standing at the foot of the conical and towering Osorno Volcano. Then, it's onward through the forest to the icy cold, blue-green waters of Petrohue Falls. Board a catamaran to sail to Peulla, navigating Todos los Santos Lake; weather permiting you will also be able to view Osorno and Puntiagudo Volcanoes and Tronador Hill. On arrival at Peulla, ecological village and paradise for the nature lovers have lunch and enjoy some free time to explore the park at your leisure. Spend the night in a lakeside wilderness lodge and enjoy dinner at the lodge. Overnight in Peulla (B, L, D)
DAY 5 PEULLA – BARILOCHE
After breakfast, continue traversing the Andes, at only 976 meters above sea level, crossing the border into Argentina and driving to Puerto Frias navigating around the lake with the same name, Lago Frias and journey on to Puerto Alegre. Then board a boat for the last part of the voyage on Nahuel Huapi Lake to Puerto Pañuelo where you disembark and continue the drive to San Carlos de Bariloche. DAY 6 BARILOCHE
Today is a free day at your leisure to enjoy the beautiful city of Bariloche and its surroundings! There are many amenities and activities to enjoy at the resort including tennis, swimming, sailing, archery, spa treatments, Pilates and tango lessons to name but a few. Perhaps you may prefer to do some more exploring and take an optional tour of the Circuito Chico: Visit Playa Bonita and the base of Campanario Hill where one can ride a chair lift to the top of the hill (1050m) where on will have the most beautiful and fascinating views of the area. The tour then crosses Angostura Bridge over the Angostura River that flows into Moreno and the Nahuel Huapi Lakes. Overnight in Bariloche (B)
DAY 7 BARILOCHE – BUENOS AIRES
After lunch fly to the "Paris of South America," beautiful Buenos Aires, Argentina. You will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel, located on the tranquil and charming Arroyo Street, surrounded by enchanting and quiet sidewalks flanked by trees, the area is a haven of antique shops and art galleries, a true epicenter of culture. DAY 8 BUENOS AIRES
Today discover the magic of the cosmopolitan capital city of Argentina. The magnificence of the Northern Quarters, Palermo and the beauty of its parks and buildings, the imposing Colon Theatre, one of the five most important opera houses in the world; Plaza de Mayo (May Square) surrounded by the Government's House (The Pink House), The Old Cabildo (Town Hall) and the Metropolitan Cathedral; San Telmo, residence of the aristocracy until the turn of the XIX century round off this excursion. Enjoy lunch at the famous Café Tortoni. This afternoon visit the tomb of Evita (Eva) Peron in the unique and impressive Recoleta Cemetery, famous for its elaborate marble mausoleums. DAY 9 BUENOS AIRES
Discover the heart of Latin American art during a fascinating visit to the Museo de Arte Latin Americano de Buenos Aires (MALBA) showcasing the private collection of Eduardo Costantini. View more than 200 works by Latin American artists from the 20th century to the present day, including works by Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Antonio Berni. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. This evening enjoy a sumptuous dinner and tango show at Rojo Tango one of the finest places in Buenos Aires to experience the power and passion of the Argentinean Tango. DAY 10 BUENOS AIRES – IGUAZU
See more of the city this morning with a visit to La Boca, a colorful bohemian barrio (neighborhood) whose early settlers included many immigrants from Italian cities; it still retains its distinctly European flair. Enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to the domestic airport to board a flight to Iguassu. On arrival at Puerto Iguazú Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the heart of Iguassu National Park. Overnight in Iguazu (B, L)
DAY 11 IGUAZU
Today visit the Argentinean side of Iguazu Falls. At the Visitors Center there is an interpretative building with panels showing the importance of the biodiversity of the subtropical humid forest. To visit the Devil's Throat, you will board a train at the Cataracts Station, close to the Upper Circuit. Once at the Devil's Throat Station, you will take a walking tour on a flat catwalk built over the Upper Iguazu River that leads you to a viewing platform for amazing panoramic views of the falls. Return by train back to the main station where you can decide to have lunch at one of the cafes or walk the middle or lower circuits for more interesting views of the falls. Overnight in Iguazu (B)
DAY 12 IGUACU – RIO DE JANEIRO
Today say good bye to Argentina and cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge in to Brazil to visit the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls. Enjoy a walking tour on the catwalks to an observation area where you will have a fantastic close-up encounter with the Devil's Throat and the main falls. Afterwards you will be transferred to Foz de Iguacu Airport to take a flight to Rio de Janeiro and your oceanfront hotel on beautiful Copacabana Beach. Overnight in Rio (B, L)
DAY 13 RIO DE JANEIRO
After breakfast, enjoy a full day tour of two of the city’s most iconic symbols, Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain. Leaving the hotel you proceed to Cosme Velho Station to board a cog-train for a ride through the Tijuca Forest up to Corcovado Mountain. The train ride takes approximately 20 minutes and is a wonderful opportunity for a closer look at the forest’s lush tropical vegetation and to enjoy the scenic landscapes of the beaches and the city. Disembarking at the top of Corcovado and proceeding up the steps will lead one to the top lookout where the towering statue of Christ the Redeemer stands. After appreciating the breathtaking views unfolding below descend by train and continue touring the city. After lunch at a local restaurant visit Sugarloaf Mountain. Downtown is the business heart of Rio. It is a part of the city where colonial Rio meets modern skyscrapers. Passing along Rio Branco Avenue you will see Candelaria Church, whose construction was started in the late 18th century and completed in 1898. The headquarters of major Brazilian banks and commercial enterprises are also located on this avenue. You will also see the Opera House (Teatro Municipal) and the Carioca Square, the church of Santo Antonio built in the 17th century as well as the contrast of the modern buildings such as Petrobras and the Cathedral. You will also see Rio's aqueduct, built in the 18th century which now connects downtown Rio to the Santa Teresa district, an old residential area. Afterwards you will drive through Flamengo Park from where you have the opportunity to see famous Sugar Loaf Mountain. This famous mountain reached by cable car, 1,200 feet up, will give you an experience you will never forget: looking down at Rio from atop of Sugar Loaf is one of the most spectacular and famous views in the world. This evening, enjoy a dinner show at Plataforma where you will listen to the contagious rhythms of the samba, a musical style unique to Brazil. The show consists of lavishly and colourfully costumed dancers and musicians presenting the richness of the nation's musical and cultural heritage. Overnight in Rio de Janeiro (B, L, D)
DAY 14 RIO DE JANEIRO
Spend your last day at leisure in this vibrant city of sun, beaches and rhythm. Soak up the atmosphere of one the world's most unique cities; there is something for everyone in Rio.
